The BTS Lego set has been announced, and if you hear high-pitched squealing comparable to Little Miss Sunshine, I'll try to stop. There are no promises, however.
The 749-piece "Dynamite" set has all seven members of the K-pop behemoth chilling on the video set of their hit tune, which in 2020 broke YouTube's 24-hour record with over 100 million views in a day. It also established a new record for YouTube video comments.
The kit, created by two 20-year-old fans, features incredibly adorable Lego models of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook wearing their outfits from the music video; I can't stop staring at V's adorable waistcoat outfit. These are dispersed among small, constructible '70s-themed venues, such as a retro burger and doughnut shop, an ice cream truck, a record store, a basketball court, and a discothèque with a huge DISCO sign. Also included is a brief BTS stage.
You can place RM with turquoise hair in a record store surrounded by Lego "Dynamite" records, have Jungkook raise a donut toast, or have V dance next to an ice cream truck.
Only a few days ago, Lego teased on Twitter about a BTS release. The BTS album was not produced by their label BigHit or their agency HYBE. It is part of Lego's Ideas platform, where anybody may submit their own set designs and others can vote on whether they should be manufactured. The "Dynamite" set was a collaboration between Josh, a 20-year-old designer from Indiana, and Jacob, a 21-year-old BTS fan from New York. After their idea gained 10,000 views on Lego's Ideas website, it was accepted.
Jacob remarked in a Lego news release, "Josh did the building and design work, and as a great BTS fan, I told him what needed to be included and what elements were most crucial."
"Jacob has Excellent expertise and was able to guide my build in the right direction," Josh said in a statement. I repeatedly saw the music video in an attempt to capture its essence with Lego bricks.
Beginning in early March 2023, the BTS "Dynamite" Lego set will be available for purchase on Lego's website and in stores for $99.99 (£89.99 / €99.99).
Here is the video because the music is already stuck in your head.
